During our lifetime we experience various traumas. Our strength depends from the way we deal with them. Many traumas unfortunately come from our childhood and have an incredible impact on our adulthoods. As Kennedy once said ‘the wounds remain. In time, the mind, protecting its sanity, covers them with scar tissue and the pain lessens. But it is never gone.’

"It has been said, 'time heals all wounds.' I do not agree. The wounds remain. In time, the mind, protecting its sanity, covers them with scar tissue and the pain lessens. But it is never gone." Rose Fitzgerald Kennedy

The medical dictionary describes trauma as psychological or emotional damage. There might be experiences from the past that causes severe anxiety or emotional distress. I am not talking only about horrible experiences such as rape or loss of parents etc. These are the very high-end experiences which we all know that leave scars on people’s life. We need to also remember that there are things which are painful but not obvious at the same time, such as a lost favourite doll in the park, or a terrifying laugh from the neighbour next door. Or feeling alone around people, or conversation without response. All those situations that could happen to both, me and you. You could see something which you should not see, or maybe you have done something you wanted to hide… Or you have been punished for something, or your parents divorced, or you dog or cat died. Or you were deliberately called names or verbally insulted. Everything really which make you feel miserable, lost, sad and unhappy…. It stays with you. The pain is never gone. While most adults physically “grown up,” they never quite reach emotional or psychological adulthood as the memory of many traumas is active and harmful.

Redesign yourself now!

However, all those memories can be re-designed. Yes, I realise that we cannot delete them completely, but we can work with them to ease the pain which impacts on our lives We can use many techniques and processes, but we must at least try. Without willingness to try nothing can happen. No healing takes place.

One of the process which I used for myself and I find it very helpful is Inner Child. It is a healing process where you come back to your little inner self through meditation (for inner child meditations please look at other posts). You meet your little You. You acknowledge him or her and you let it know that you’re there for it. You start talking to that child. You then try to understand the feelings and sensations from all those difficult situations you had to face in the past. You are observing the situations, the reactions, the damage. Then you start to accept whatever happened and you interact with your inner child as you would like to happen in the real life back then. It is a magical process which use the power of imagination. Through the inner child work you can clearly heal yourself. You come back from those meditations as a different person. Then, it’s much easier to carry on daily tasks.

Talk...Talk...Talk...

The beautiful thing is that you can talk to your inner child as many times as you wish. You can make a habit of talking to him or her. You can also start writing to it or doing things for it. You can also recreate what you loved to do as a child. I personally loved to write little poems and rhymes, so I wrote the story of the Wawel Dragon which then was published and distributed. It was all part of my inner child process which I needed at that time. I loved the whole experience and I still keep talking to little Justynka! Because I cannot heal others if I am not healed in the first place. Because I am not different from you. We are all the same, beautiful souls having a very interesting, sometimes painful experience on Earth.
